theres no hope. for free anyways...
you could get Dark Basic thiry day trial, but then you gotta learn some code.
There's Ray Game Designer, free, but I don't know how great it is.
If you actually want to make a 3D game, buy a program.
Anim8or is for 3-D modelling, free, but you cant make 3D games with it. It's pretty fun to screw around with though.
For most 3D game designers that cost money there is a trial-version.

true space 3.2 is a good one. slightly buggy, but at least its free.

i dont know where to find it, try google, but to get it free you need to register your email. then you will start getting annoying messages, but you can always block them  :D

If you're interested in 3D game making, you might want to take a look at modding with some of the editors that come with games - such as Crysis or Unreal Tournament 3. There's also an editor that comes with all the source games (Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike), that people have done some pretty impressive things with, such as this:

Never thought of it that way. Hope everyone comes up with more. I think there is one at www.3drad.com, but I haven't tried it yet. :( (Dial-up)

If theres a 3d game developer you DONT want to try, its RAD Game Developer (not the one Blue wind's talking about)
most of the interface is in french, so i cant understand it. plus the interface is confusing itself, even an expert probably would not want to even try it. plus the max resolution is 320x240 (especially on my 27inch monitor (i hate seeing the individual pixels at that size) :blindfold:) even worse, you can (i think) go even smaller! :'(

wow! new smilies!

Blender 3D. This is the full-monty, and its completely free. This bad boy has an integrated game engine, and more editing tools for 3D than you'll ever need. The game engine it uses is based off of another open-source 3D engine that is fairly easy to edit and script for. (Crystal Space 3D) Using Blender, you can build 3D models, rig-them, animate them, and paint them all within the program itself. Then you can assemble your game logic in the program as well, without doing any low-level coding. I would definitely recommend it, even if all you want to use it for is modeling.
