Title: game testing
Post by: SmartBoy16 on 2009-06-29, 02:27:20 AM
i've been looking for jobs up in the Twin Cities area and i saw a few that are looking for Video Game Testers. Some pay up to $30 an hour. now i am not quite sure about this, but is it a good idea, or should i try to find something else?

Edit: found one that has a "Risk free membership for only $2 a month"

why do you have to be a member for any job? sounds suspicious. 30 dollars sounds very much, though (at least for me), what makes it even more unreal.
but game testing as a job itself may be a good thing. try to get more information before you get involved.

p.s. is suspicious the right word in that context? maybe better use fishy or suspect??

You're okay there. You used it right.

I find it highly unusual and suspicious that you have to pay $2 per month for the "privilege" of being paid to do a job.  If someone is going to pay you to do a job, they should be paying you, not the reverse.  And paying $2 per month is not "risk free". Maybe I would have a different opinion if I saw the actual listing, but given that information, it seems strange to me.

If it's Activision, it is most likely real. But unless it's a poser on the internet.
