If there are two big movies I wanted to see this summer, they are: Episode III and Batman Begins.
Already saw Anakin get cooked, so now I'm waiting to see Batman kick arse this Wednesday.
Anyone else into comic book-to-film movies?
-
What about War of the Worlds? I certainly do want to see that one. And Chronicles of Narnia and (past) Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and perhaps Fantastic Four.
Those are my big ones of the year that you haven't mentioned yet. I'm not big on comic books, but the movies are still good anyway.

Speaking of movies, I liked Howl's Moving Castle, for anybody into Haiyo Miyazaki. It wasn't playing at the biggest theaters, so it may not be available in some areas, and may be hard to find, but if you can find it, my comment is that it's worth seeing.

Has anyone seen the previews for the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Stars Johnny Depp, and it looks down right crappy. He gives off the vibe of a child molestor *shivers*. In the previews, he doesn't show any excitement, he's very drawn back, its really creepy. Actually, now that i think of it, he almost looks like Michael Jackson in some shots.
----edit----
Speaking of which, has anyone else heard the verdict on his case?
He got off completely, found innocent on all charges. Anyone else get a little angered/confused by this?
-
Holy heck Batman rocked! I highly recommend it.

From what I understand about the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory story, the idea is that Willy Wonka is supposed to appear to be somewhat unexcited on purpose. It's his whole idea. He doesn't really want to stop the kids from what they're doing. Only the good ones who are naturally good (without being told to) are the kind he wants running his factory.
But then, what can you expect from Tim Burton?
As far as the Michael Jackson case, I don't know if it's true or not, or where I heard it, but what I heard was that the family was a family of con artists or something like that, who went around doing this kind of thing?
I don't recall exactly the story, but I remember hearing something like that. Can anybody tell me if they have also heard this or, if not, that I am going crazy? (I've suspected it for a long time now anyway)
-
(I've suspected it for a long time now anyway)
heh, suspected what, they they were cons, or that your going crazy? ;)
anyway, i really think its going to tank, i mean it looks like its supposed to be even more kid oriented than the original one, but i dont think it will be that popular with them, (going from my sister and her friends reactions), but who knows.

Well, I myslef am hard-pressed to find a movie that I don't like. I'll admit that I don't like some of the oldies (i.e. Casablanca, Gone With the Wind, you know, the "good" ones), but most of the recent ones I've liked regardless of what critics have said.
-
Kinda like when Homer Simpson was a food critic, eh? ;)
-
Gone With The Wind is great.
Its worth it if you stick it though. Its just like watching a bunch of mini movies all starring the same people...
-
That's what they say, but I've tried it, and frankly, I just don't like the movie.
Now that I've seen War of the Worlds, I'd give it maybe a 6 out of 10. It was okay, but not great.
Now I'm waiting for The Chronicles of Narnia.
-
You kids. No attention span now days.
-
Not so much no attention span so much as different taste in movies. Get over it. Many things I do require a long attention span, and I enjoy them anyway, so that's not the problem. It's just that I don't like that genre of movie.
-
Woah buddy. No need to jump up and down, I was being sarcastic.
-
Oh, no. I wasn't jumping. Jumping up and down would be more like "I just freakin' don't like the movie, oh freakin' kay?" But I didn't say that. Until now.
-
Ye best smile when ye say that, buddy
:)
