when posting, there's that "BBcode" disable button.  Can you program letters to move, or something of that nature with BBcode?

Just click on the BBCode link in the margin of the compose message screen to see what it can do.  If you can't find that, click here:

However, I think the new forum system will be put in place today -- not sure what kind of codes it offers.  Don't waste too much time familiarizing yourself with BBCode just yet.

Ooh, today?  That makes four good things that happened today.  I got Star Wars III in the mail, Philosophy class was canceled, I'm going home for the weekend, and the new forums will be up!

Looks like the new forums aren't up just yet.  Unless they are doing an incredibly good job of disguising themselves as the old forums.

seems to me like proc (i think thats the name?) is mostly incharge of setting them up

Yes Proc is a friend/associate of OrionPax.  OrionPax is the one who created the Super Happy Funland graphics library and the Forest tileset, and he suggested that the person who hosts for him also host the GameDev forums.
