I still cannot get the map editor to pop up. I checked everything you guys [durnurd, bluemonk] suggested for me to have, I have them all, yet it proceeds to not work. Any suggestions, or should I hold off until any further release?
i've been messing around with it the last couple of days, still no luck. :(

I assume you are talking about SGDK version 2.0? What was the last way that you tried to install Managed DirectX, and what happened when you tried?
-
Yes, I was refering to the latest, sorry about that ambiguous statement.
Last time I tried to install the managed directX, I successfully did it! Everything was finished and I unzipped the file that durnurd suggested. I have all the files, it's just it seems that it [SGDK 2.0] doesn't detect them or I'm doing something terribly wrong. :?
I'm not sure...

Did you update the BAT file to refer to the directory/version of DirectX that actually got installed and try to re-build SGDK2? Last I checked, it sounded like the current version was more recent than what I was working with. So you might have to re-build SGDK with the more current version, and to do so, you might have to update a directory name in the BAT file.

Though you shouldn't have to even run the bat file if the EXE file already exists....right?
-
**just an idea**
your problem could be that you're running windows XP. are u?
if so, right click the gamedev program, go to properties, then compatibility, try win 98 or something...
-
i have xp, and it works fine for me; why would he need to change the compatibility?
-
no no no...
just for the gamedev program
some programs work better with the compatibile thing turned on..
just for the note: i run gamedev on a 98.
-
GameDev works perfectly on XP, as does SGDK 2.0, which is what we're dealing with. It was, developed on a Windows XP system. That's not the problem in this case.

I will definitely try the BAT [file] idea.
Thank you for the help. :)

Yes, I turned off the "Windows XP Style" in my display settings appearance tab because it makes my computer look too ... Fisher Price :).

But he might have to re-compile it for his system if the pre-compiled version is linked to a different version of DirectX. Recompiling it might ensure that it's compiled against the version he has installed. After all, you saw the DirectX 9 files in a different directory (different version name) than I did after installing Managed DirectX 9, didn't you?
