...but is there a way to create a sprite relative to another sprite that isnt the player?

Depending on how you're creating it, yes or no. If it's based on a collision between two sprites and the "another" sprite is class A in the collision, then you can activate a special function to create a new sprite relative to the trigger.

Also, on a side note, is there anyway to aviod that short black flash you get while changing maps?
