hey, i had the idea to put a short DVD cartoon on a camera memory card, in AVI format, thus being able to watch it portable-ly. I used a DVD ripper and a .vob to .ani converter, but the camera seems to not reconise the format, still. do i need a codec of the exact .ani file the camera writes in????
its a samsung, digimax 530

I'm not sure if you actually mean .ani or if you mean .avi but just typed it wrong. .ani files are animated cursor icons for your mouse. I don't know of cameras that can read that. However, if you actually meant avi (or are now going to get a converter to convert it from VOB to AVI instead) then it will have to use a codec that the camera can understand. I couldn't find any info on what codec that particular camera uses, but MPEG is a good bet, since most cameras that create movie files directly are either MPEG or uncompressed AVI.
