I was wondering if i could make a turn style fighting game without scripting. ???
-
It would be approximately 90 times easier with scripting, but it would be possible, yes.
-
i was thinking i could do somtin like this---
make two stationary sprites, one for player one for enemy. Say i want my player to jump on the other guy. i would make a new f''follow path exactly'' sprite who wud follo a jumping path. id make it so when i hit 'space' for example id switch to a new sprite the jumping one and when hes dun id switch bak. i wud then hav the collision take an amount of the opponents life. Oh, and to choose wat attak 2 use (you can tell i dont like to type that much) there wud b assigned buttons or---try to grasp this concept---the player sprite wud b a mouse (computer Mousenot the one that goes sqeek) and there wud be special functions for each thing you click on by hitting space. the battle layer wud hav a scroll rate of zero and in it wud be an empty square for the menu. in the empty square it would teleport to a new location(branch of the menu)
i go 2 gr8 lengths to not script!!!! :D

Why do you have such an aversion to scripting if it makes the game work faster, smarter, and easier? Also, having a mouse pointer controlled by the keyboard is somewhat counter-intuitive.
-
Maybe he can't script well :shrugs:

Wait a second...How do you get RPG out of this...
-
i like SGDK a lot, but RPGS are better made in "official hampster republic" or "rpg toolkit"
-
"official hampster republic"? Are you making that up!?
-
whoa. he isn't makin' nothin' up. I just found the kit. I didn't download it though...but it does exist, top result for official hamster republic on msn search...and yah I know you like google bluemonk...msn's just default for my comp
-
i spelled hamster wrong though... ;)
-
You wouldn't believe how many free game creators there are!!!
But i have to say, most aren't near as stable(or cool) as SGDK.

Too many on this site... :)
I've tried a lot of them and most of them are still in development or just plain suck...
This kid I know downloaded RPG Toolkit. He thinks he's like super good because he can make games with that. I downloaded it. It sucks. It's pretty much like pre-made stuff you just put into a game. Other than story, all the games made with it would be the same.
whoa, if I dont know if that was off-topic or not...I suppose it doesn't really matter...

thanks 4 that website!!! i love finding new freeware! ;D
-
one thing i love about SGDK is how the engine easily covers many issues involving game creation, solidity, collisions, jumping, gravity , tilesets, ect.. on most other systems i cant find where the thing covers all of these issues.

don't totally hack at rpg toolkit, yes its made only for rpg's but, really! it's llike saying that pokemon is just like final fantacy
