so when i finish the giant fly first, i can't proceed to the second level because i didn't grabbed the key? that is not very player friendly game design...
the black and white design is cool, but more details would be good. especially for the fly boss.

it gives you some sort of challenge. plus you can always go back to the level again and get it (you still need to finish the boss) on this game though, you dont need to get the key, you still can enter without it (i didnt program that in yet)
plus, there is a quicker way to enter the first level, on the first house, the one you first start out on, go down the chiminey and you can get in without finding the key. though you lose 5 health.
plus i saved all the images a black and white images, so the antialiasing is gone

i couldn't try it out because 7zip download site gives me a time-out. why the heck don't you use normal zip files??? the difference between 8 and 9 kb is not so big...

7-zip offer's more compression and is free compared to winzip. i guess the website host im using doesnt support 7z. ill get a zip version soon.
-
You know that 7-zip can create regular ZIP files too, right?
(7-zip is my preferred archive program too, but I usually use regular ZIP format unless there's a significant difference between 7z and zip format, just because many more programs will understand zip format.)
-
i know. i made a zip version. i updated my website, only problem is i "reached the quota" so i cannot load it on there.
can't post it here because, oddly, the file is 290KB! :o
ill go to Box.net and ill post a link. brb
edit: Its just NOT my day today! box.net is having troubles uploading files for some reason. does anybody who has 7-zip can convert this file to zip? ???
and now i just forgot i deleted the 7z file! and worse my zip disk (used for transporting my files to the internet computer) was flushed accidentally by WINZIP!. not my day! :(
now i need to reload it! ill brb (last time hopefully!)
edit2: YES! i get it. unfortunately, the zip version has no music to save space. its 123KB. plus some maps (most useless) were also deleted. and the Inside tileset is deleted.

heres the 7z version

I'm download #2! ;D

can't play, there are 2 error messages. the first says "automation errror", the second " error playing map: display must be open to clear display".
i think it was the zip version you posted yesterday.
-
right now im trying to actually finish another game, so i wont have much time with this one. if anybody wants to, they can help me finish this game.

i dont know... it worked when i tested it. that happens to some of my programs sometimes.
-
That usually means the sounds are missing or unable to play.
-
i tested this one, i should work (hopefully... :-[)

when i enter the dungeon in the left house, the player moves at incredible speed...
and maybe you shoud think about filling the "wall" tiles of the dungeon with some sort of structure. it is confusing looking at the screen because there are only lines, and you don't know what is solid and what is a passage. unless you wanted that effect, then you have done a good job ;D

i intentially did that. origionally he was supossed to be in a rocket ship type thing, but i could never get some of the slopes right.
i know its hard to tell solids from not, when i made this i didn't know about how the tiles interacted with eachother. plus at first i thought you can jump through solids and still land on top of them like in Mario Bros.

i thought this is possible with sgdk1.

There are only six types of solidity in SGDK1. Uphill, Downhill, Uphill Ceiling, Downhill Ceiling, Solid, and Empty. Solid from the top only is a specialized solidity available only in SGDK2. It can be achieved by using platform sprites which will catch another sprite falling on it from the top if set up correctly, but it is impossible to do it with tiles alone.

To clarify: In version 1, solidity from above can only be accomplished with a platform sprite, not tiles. In SGDK2, it can also be done with tiles.

i like to joke that when the guy enters the house, he finds a whole box of diet pepsi max and drinks it all! unfortunately it wears out by the time you reach the boss level (which was supposed to be giant ladybug)
whos the guy who made platformania? i was wonderng how you made the boss for that game
-
i made that. =p
Boss was my favourite stage. <3
The boss is a sprite that travels around a set path, when it hits certain other sprites placed in it's path, they activate a function, such as lightning or the rolling version of him.
Was a lot of fun to make that level. :D
-
is that why i occasionally see blue dots on the screen?
-
yes. they are the same shader as the sky, but u can see them sometimes. :/

Cool! It was tricky to get down the maze. I had better luck downloading 1.1 than the original one! :D

its funny how everyone else can barely get through the maze but when i play it, i just breeze through it. ive also ben able to pass by all the flies without using any rocks or water!
-
maybe you tested the design of this map until you could play it blindfolded?
-
yeh i also played it enough times so I knew exactly how to get through :(
lol
-
It was tricky! Especially the enemies. And the boss was difficult, for me, how do you beat it?

when you hit it, the boss sprite restarts from its original position so lure it to that spot and KEEP SHOOTING!!!
dont try to hide in the top left corner, a function there regenerates the boss.
dont forget to get the key BEFORE defeating the boss
-
i'll probably start on this game as soon as i am done with RANAT. it will be on SGDK2.
