How do I change or add a picture to my account And how do I get more Stars?? 8)
-
Click on the "Profile" button at the top, then click on the "Forum profile information" link. You can choose another picture there. You can't upload your own unless you are ranked as an expert (or maybe contributor, I don't remember now). To get up to 3 normal stars, you just participate in the forums and when you've been around long enough, posting enough messages, you'll get more stars. People with special stars get them by demonstrating their expertise or contributing a game (if I've missed anyone, BTW, let me know). The special ranks are "Contributor" (2 special green stars) for those who have submitted games, "Clever" (3 special green stars) for people who help others out with clever advice, "Expert" (5 special green stars) for people who have demonstrated mastery of SGDK, understanding of all its areas and ability to use them in interesting ways (...and for the administrator's girlfriend :-[... who's doing pretty will with SGDK2 herself), and finally "Administrator" (5 special brown stars).

I find it easier to recognize who posted what by their avatar image. When people change the picture, or when two people have the same picture, it gets confusing!
-
say, blue monk, is there a four green stars rank? ;D
-
Not yet. I didn't plan out a ranking system, so I only thought of a couple ranks that I wanted to create to provide some benefit to people who spend time with SGDK. Maybe if someone submits a game that other users rate highly I'll create a new 4 star rank if they're not quite an expert, but they make good games :).

haha, yeh I do the same thing, I never read the name unless I don't recognise the avatar.

Could I count as an expert if I create a project with 50 levels? (With Teams' help)
-
I think "expert" defines people who are fully aware of all of the program's ins and outs and how to use the program completely (or nearly). Quality over quantity, you know. If the levels are all quality levels, though, and you show and share your knowledge on the forum, then probably you could be considered an expert.

Hey, now that I contributed Art and Easel, where's my upgraded status? :canadian:
-
Well, the Art and Easel program is somewhat simplistic and buggy. When I drew something, then pressed A, for example, the program crashed. Also, you're using sprites for each pixel, which is the fastest way to do it, I guess, based on the framework, but not very efficient. The sprites boundaries do not closely match their images' frames, and the SGDK2 project itself is not very well implemented (for example, you have left several objects with their default names, "Rule 1" "Plan 1" etc).
-
lol, i wanted to say just the same.
first, the game crashed when i pressed A, also. but it didn't when i generated a project.
another thing is, the eraser doesn't erase something. it adds just white sprites. maybe it is possible to deactivate the touched sprite.
and the eraser sprite is drawn under the white "erased" sprites. is it possible to hide the mouse?
but anyway, it is very cool that you made this demo. i wouldn't ever thought about to make anything else than a game. thumbs up!

Another thing to consider is that the status of "contributor" means that the user has contributed something of value to the community here. What you've done is copy MSPaint, and while that may be of interest as a specific show of the extensibility of the Scrolling Game Development Kit, it wouldn't be something chosen as a representation of its skillset. The GameDev Academy for v1.x did that. Making a simple paint program for a development kit meant for making games is somehow underwhelming.

Thanks for the self esteem.
(Cough*know it all*Cough)
Kidding.
