Title: SourceForge Community Choice Nominations
Post by: bluemonkmn on 2009-05-14, 05:06:12 AM
SourceForge community choice nominations are open.  If you think SGDK2 is worthy, you can nominate it here:
(http://sourceforge.net/images/cca/cca_nominate.png) (http://sourceforge.net/community/cca09/nominate/?project_name=Scrolling Game Development Kit 2&project_url=http://sgdk2.sourceforge.net/)

I nominated it for best project for Developers and best project for Gamers.

You can nominate for multiple categories at once by clicking the "+" next to "Nominate for another category".  Remember to include your email address in the nomination or the nomination may not be counted.

Just to be sure, is nominating like voting?  I mean, if I nominate SGDK2 in the same categories that you did, will it help?  Or will it do nothing since it is already nominated?

"The ten projects with the most nominations in each category will become our finalists."  The number of nominations matters.

Allright!  I nominated your project in the two categories. :)

Too bad there's not the "Best support community" in the list: you would totally deserve the first prize in this one too! :D

Out of curiosity, do you get cool prizes?  :)

I also nominated it in 3 categories!  ;D

I think the publicity obtained by winning this competition would be more important than prizes. (of course depends what sort of prizes)

Kinda sad to see how much work has gone into this program, and personally I believe SGDK2 is better than any other 2d game maker, yet other programs are more popular. :(

Nominated for best project for gamers and developers.

Looks like the rewards policy is listed among the nomination rules at:
http://sourceforge.net/community/cca09/nominate-rules/ (http://sourceforge.net/community/cca09/nominate-rules/)

Looks like no rewards other than the publicity, which is probably the best reward (within reason) that I can think of, because it can lead to all other rewards.

True. And I should get more people to use the SGDK or SGDK 2.

How about we make a list of sites where SGDK games have been posted at (revolution studios, for example) so that newcomers searching for a game kit see more games than what's in the remository.
People would be more inclined to using SGDK if they sampled some nicely made games for it, right?

I don't understand why all games aren't listed in the project listing.  Wouldn't it be just as easy to add a listing for "all those games" (assuming there are a significant number, which may be a big assumption) to the SGDK2 project listing (aka Remository)?

Not a significant number for sure, but besides for TonyX and SmartBoy16's sites, I came across this.

http://sites.google.com/site/overgrownoatmeal/Home (http://sites.google.com/site/overgrownoatmeal/Home)

Anything made with SGDK2 that's 100MB has to be worth checking out, ya' know?

Instead of creating another list, why not use the project listing at http://sgdk2.enigmadream.com/ (http://sgdk2.enigmadream.com/) as the site to list all the games available for SGDK2?

That could be an option. But wouldn't more lists get more people to know about SGDK?

I don't know.  I tend to get confused about where the best list is if there are multiple lists for the same thing.  Maybe if there were more links to that list, then people would see it and know that it is the best list?
