Title: barren forums...
Post by: SmartBoy16 on 2009-06-05, 09:06:22 AM
I think that these forums are dying, as nothing new has been happening, besides the threat of accounts being deleted. so, how about posting something here to say that you are still alive, and so your name doesn't get deleted.

which gives me an idea! say "HERE" in the most styled way possible.

for example: HERE!

It is a fact that not much is happening these days in the forums, but I sure hope it doesn't get closed!  I've been getting a lot of help in here until recently (too much OT at work, can't find the time to work on my game since 4 or 5 weeks, and as soon as I get the chance, I plan to get get right back on it!  I still look at the forums each day.  SGDK2 is great product, it would be a shame to see its forum disappear!  I hope it won't come to that. :scared:

Don't fret over that.
The forums persist.
The forums aren't going away.
They're just quiet.
I have a relatively long term hosting plan on a dedicated server and completely control the forums now so they I don't think they'll be going anywhere.  When I get a chance maybe I'll post something new and relevant about a project I've been working on lately (in an on-topic forum) just to ... "ping" people's interest.  Meanwhile, I'm still hoping someone (durnurd!) will help me work out whatever problem may or may not have existed with the current Beta release that supports Linux.

You may think I didn't say "HERE", but the first 4 sentences are encoded binary for the word "HERE" where the words whose character-count is odd represent a "1" bit, and the even lengths represent a "0" bits.  The resulting numbers are 1-based indexes into the alphabet.  :nerd:

Well, I've just finished a relatively simple tileset for RPG towns and fields if that counts as livening up the forums any.

Err, I noticed the tileset was missing a few things... When I fix it I'll send the file over for template consideration.
Heat-powered.
Electric.
Radio-active.
Energy.
Muuuuch better than the last one.

I approved it -- you should edit it by adding a description and some screenshots and such.

It looks like you took a photograph of your screen... are you not aware of the general ability to use the Print Screen button to get screenshots?  At first I thought you had intentionally applied some sort of circular fade effect to the image, but I just realized this morning what was going on. :)

Can't say I know exactly how to do that. I brought up the Map Editor window, then pressed ALT+PRINT SCREEN... Then what? It didn't do anything, so I assumed that it copied to the clipboard, but MSPaint didn't have anything to paste. How exactly do I go about this?

go to start-> run then type "clpbrd.exe" then just push Print Screen. If it shows up on the clipoard, thats good. if not, thats bad

"Windows cannot find 'clpbrd.exe'" No, it didn't show up on the clipboard...
Well, good thing I have a camera, then.

are you using a laptop? you might have to hold the "Fn" button before Printscreen

Bingo! Thanks for all the help! I'll go update the tileset thumbnail. I've got a tileset for the indoor areas as well that I'm working on, so this is great.
