i noticed something strange, because suddenly i did had small windows with the name of the button when i held my mouse above one.
this was i guess because i had the help tutorial window open, on the part where you see the editor buttons explained. first i noticed
that when i kept my mouse above a button in the tut window it did gave the name of the button, and when i then moved my mouse
above a real button it also gave the name of it. so it seems that all you have to do is to have the tutsection open in Help.

it was just a suggestion, F1 is a great help too, although its still a bit hard to find my way through ALL that info
that is given there. but that is logical, soon i will get that hang of things.
thanks for the info,

Help, Errors, FAQ / Re: Help isn't working ??

hee, i didn't get a email that there was added a new comment here and i thought i had my setting here so that i receeve
amail when a comment was added. maybe i am wrong, i will check if this is the case.

now about the problem, i just had started to explain here that i couldn't find a .CHM file in my folder where i installed the engine,
but that i could find .chw file and then i noticed a file called SGDK2Help, what is a Compiled HTML Help file.
hee, that is .chm.
ones i did found it i easely could make it work through the info you both gave me.
thanks, it works now. this is way easier as clicking back and forth between the engine and the tut site.
by the way, i do use 2.1.7. thought it was best to start right away with the newest version.

thansk,

leon

edit;
have found the Notify button, sorry i didn't realise this before.
problem solved too ;D

i have started working on a game of my own, and this is my first indie game dev.
i have made tons of sp-maps and sp-mods with fpshooter games though, and sometimes some people couldn't
play a map or mod due to a crash in a specific place. and that when lots of other people including myself and the dev
team had no trouble at all with it.

so, sometimes some computers can't play something that can be played by many other people.
do you have such experiences with you're game, if so, could you please tell me (us all) more about it?

thanks,
leon

Vincent, i downloaded and tried to play you're game but i did get an error message that says;

c:\Users\leon\Downloads\GAME DEV\games\LokRevival\LokRevival\Display.cs(11,30) : error CS0234: the type of the name of the nameplace or space Enums does excist in the name place or space OpenTK.Graphics.OpenGL (is there missing a assembly change?)

c:\Users\leon\Downloads\GAME DEV\games\LokRevival\LokRevival\Display.cs(65,32) : error CS0246: the type of the namespacename is not found, (is there missing a userinstruction of assembly change?)

i did translate it myself in to English, originaly the error text was in Dutch, (because i am Dutch, although i can't remember having installed SGDK 2.0 in Dutch, i nornaly choose Englsih for installation software.

do you know what to do because i would like to give you're beta a try,
by the way, do you know if there are many people who are having trouble with playing it, due to that it is played on a different pc?

i like how the editor looks, although it does look still quit complicated to me but this is just because i am totally new to it.
so to me is each button a miracle what it will do and what it stands for. and therefore i have a small suggestion, it's certainly
not a complaint, just a idea that mait could be implemented.

with other programs you sometimes have it that when you held you're mouse above a button in that program for a second or
more that then a small text window above opens with a one word explanation of what that button does.
and for someone who starts with the engine for the first time like me it would help a lot to know which button it is. because
now i find in the great clear and well writen tutorials sometimes a command of press this or that button, and i don't know
where to look for it. the tuts are well writen like i said, so it always explains it a bit, where to look for it.
what also doesn't help is that i am Ducth, and many other users will also not be English, meaning they don't use the English
leagues as first leagues. what makes reading tuts, and finding buttons and functions a bit harder as it is for a English person.

so, its just a small suggestion. just see what you do with it Bejamin.

Help, Errors, FAQ / Help isn't working ??
« on: 2010-12-02, 08:47:01 AM »
hello,

my name is Leon (aka SPYmaps) and i just have started using the sidescroller engine 2.0 and i will be here on this forum from now on from time to time.
hopefully i can show in not to much time a nice decent game, i am trying to make a topdown shooter like the old game Raptor, or DemonStar, etc.

my first problem that i am having is that i can't use the tutorials in the Help section.
ofcourse can i find them to on line, buit it works easier when i can find them in Help,
at the right side it says as error message that it can't find the website.
do i need to change a setting or is there something else wrong.

other then that i dont have any troubles with running the engine 2.0.
i use windows 7 and it works great so far.
