yeah how do I map a key which i want to be left click with the mouse and I also want to right click but, when I checked the mapkeytoinputs section well, I couldnt find the left click or right click can someone help me out or is the left and right click not in the source code?

Ok I'll check up on that for you.....Well after a BF 2142 match or two but I'll still check up on it. Well I'm already done with up to step two so it should take to long except I'm not too sure about the Way the empty one looks..............Darnit i fogot completely that one was too complex and well it is plus I think I made a better one I'll post it as soon as I import it (I draw and scan so....I think its easier)

well I'm open to trying new things but i dont know about trying that just yet I still almost dont understand fully of the SGDK2 so It'd probably be a good idea to learn that first.

The status bar... first off, it may be a bit complex for a quick in-game glance. Perhaps you could have the most basic information displayed on screen and keep the detailed bits on a pause screen. Secondly, you may be overestimating GameDev's inventory power. The built-in inventory display can only be rectangles, and you can't have anything drawn over it to change the shape. I have seen some projects that add some flare to the status bars, but nothing quite like this. If you're able to pull it off, great, but just keep in mind that something like this will take a ton of work.

Hmmmm.. Ive guess you do have a point about it being a bit to complex...I guess what i was thinking about was only having a new and sylish status bar however I didnt even think of playing and having a status bar like that.. It could work but it'd take some getting used to and well i dont want players to adjust to much. Then I think you're right about the rectangle thing but ive never used the first one and its a bit more "all over" and well im not to sure if in SGDK2 I can pull it of either.

ok so yeah im making a game but im kinda making it when the beta for SGDK 2 comes out but in the mean time....

Ok here's a status bar i was planning to use:

The yellow at the top is for spirit, the blue below that to the right is for water stored, the light blue is for sheild, the red is for health (obviously), the four different colors just below the health are magic coordinating with the color of the element, then the green is exp.

Then i have these so far im making more but just a starter for the first map im not to sure for the second yet....



Well thats about it so far i know i need backround and im pretty sure i need detail but i dont know were so a bit of help there and some constructive criticism would be nice

well i see what your saying im new to but not so new anymore...well i imported a picture in the graphics mode and ive also imported some textures from a thing i found and it seems to work nice for me it remains in detail and everything just keep in mind i didnt size it down by using the size changer thing but still that works rather nicely but if you want to import images or pictures you just do these things:

1. Create new or use one thats already made of a graphic sheet (well open it up)
2.then click on file at the top right of the screen
3. Click on import graphic
4. then browse through your files and find the texture you want to put in and there you go well the rest you should be able to figure out i have no clue how to explain it.

it should be ill let you know if i run in to probs oh and by the way would it be posible to make a enemy moving and that gets killed i know i can add a test collision and nabye put after it to deactivate but how would i make it move towards me is prefered
Ok i can revise, I just try to get everything out (not to mention im not so great in english but im an A student in everything esle so).....Anyway I'll edit the quote, if you need the other one done to I can do that too....

ok this one would probably be easier to read for the features i am going to try and use ill let you guys know if one of em dont work oh and im planning to make it a beta

1. well for one im going to have im pretty sure more than 10 levels that are about lets say half as big as chameleon man plus storyline (serious stroyline nabye a joke here and there)

2.Different modes and weapons (of course but im going to try and make mine unique) and now for the modes first then weapons
    A. A dragon furry mode that uses these weapons/features:
        1A. A fire whip/chain (meaning all fire no chain but you know i cant think of an explanation of why thats that way so..)
        2A. Flight mode (exactly what it says)(itll drain spirit faster though (status stuff is at bottom))
        3A. Fire arrows! (if possible)

    B. An archer mode (pretty much self explanitory
        1B. yes itll turn into a shooter but only while you stand still to shoot arrows (you know for that added challenge especially when fighting bosses!)
        2B. Possibly a grapling hook but it'll be a later goten item (pretty much self explanitory)

    C. Normal mode
        1C. Use of a sword (self explanitory)
        2C. something else but i dont know what

    D. A mage mode (note you have mana but a different kindove mana (fire has its own bar, lightning has its own, etc.) and you can restore it through nature but im not telling which nature tile does what)
        1D. A lightning spell (hits from the sky down)
        2D. Fireball - what kindove a game would this be without pryomantics?- (a spell that can shoot just about anywere)
        3D. Earth Shift (a spell that shoots on ground at a specific location I might add a combo to it but im not telling you the idea i have for the combo)
        4D. Glacier (a spell that goes only a short distance on the ground but does good damage. yes it comes out of the ground but it attacks on the way to the last point)

So far those are the modes i got here is what im thinking off adding for the status bar and inventory not very verified for them yet though

    1. A health bar (a must for this game so)
    2. Spirit (so far what its being called but its the power you get basically its like dragons fury or something like that since your half dragon now)
    3. Exp. (not verified but trying to add and is self explanitory mostly but lets just say it levels you up)
    4. Mana bar (except its broken into 4 pieces Fire, Earth, Ice, and Lightning
    5. Water bar (this is a nabye not sure but itll come in use for something i dont know yet unverified through me so)
    6. A sheild (exactly what it says but im pretty sure that its going to recharge but its going to run out quickly to balance it out)
    7. Im thinking a resource amount like wood (jsut to make certain things like arrows, nabye bridges this is also unverified through me)


I think thats all i got so far but thats what ive got so far

lol well that would explain a lot so i guess ill just wait till ya realese the actual version before i start trying all that stuff however i think ill still practice so i dont have to take longer than it should...well i found SGDK 2 when i was using google to find a game engine and i ended up finding that except it was all script and i had no clue how to use it or at least i think it was script but i didnt really like it i wanted an easyer program but i got this which this isnt to easy nor to hard i like it but anyway i typed in a 2D scrolling game engine and i ended up with something and i figured i should put 2D scrolling game kit and after about and hour of searching i found this i told my freinds and now were kinda making a game well im making the game theyre helping with the storyline and the graphics........and thats my story and ive left the details (i didnt get to detailed though) in the projects however it is in the SGDK 1 projects but ill check up on that stuff after doing what ive done so far its not really confusing anymore lol what you guys said was pretty much right once you learn a bit of it its easy to learn the rest and i actually did notice that it did have the If then Statements except then is in the form of Do which is no prob so once i noticed that it was kinda my "now its easy"

ok i want to do these things

1.i want to make a sprite that can move side to side and animate corectly and not go crazy (yes i figured out how to move left right except i just dont think its right or nabye it is and i forgot what im using)

2. Next i want to fix the hills i made there just not exactly working cause when i use them my sprite is about {  } that much away fromt the actual hill

3. Third i want to be able to jump right instead of it looking like its using a jetpack do to it being able to sit there and hold up down to just go up and no stop

4. Then i want to be able to program the enemies in the game and the health code ill get from the older post

5. I want to get a status bar at the top to keep track of health, a spirit energy, magic (thats split in 4), exp. (doesnt have to be absolute cause i dont even know how i could program that with the lvls and such), and a sheild (but very weak to protect yourself and it regenerates)

6. I want to be able to make a sword using sprite and i cant figure that out ive read about colisions and alls i can find on collisions in the thing is mask collision and i cant figure that out

7. this one is a sorta root from 5 i want to switch between magic and sword fighting by just holding down shift or something to switch to magic and then when you let go it returns to sword and i made a health/mana/spirit/sheild/exp. on paper and i can import it but i was wondering if it is actually posible to even though its in one pic its still able to do what i want

o yeah if it helps at all im using SGDK version 2 or from were ive read somewere Alpha 4. Srry for the list but ive tried and tried and i cant seem to find how to fix those things otherwise im pretty much cool besides a couple more thing that i cant name right now

Ok another update this time its the story line:

The player plays as a human that lived in a once peaceful village, that had been in peace for years. Then the Eldrins, mad at the kerins for taking there land (the kerins one faction that includes, liciths, meraquins, moon elves, and the humans the Eldrins consist of only one race and well there the Eldrins which they have a lot of territory but there selfish but only want there land no more while the kerins want more) Decided to attack but only with theyre technology, to suck the land dry of its resources and cause a starvation however not being to advanced it would eat at a slow pace. The maraquins had been doing reserch and discovered a way to counteract the Land suckers, using Elemental energy and using one brave hero to go in and destroy the land sucker. The boy tired of these land suckers of making it harder on him to find food he decided to be that hero to help rid of the land suckers and restore his land to its once peaceful maner.

Later on the player comes across a dragon that turns him into a Drath (not saying how...yet) (Draths are apart of the Krausin faction and they opose the kerins and the eldrins the krausin faction consists of: draths, Rifts, Undeads, and i forgot the other race) and the villagers do not beleive it is him and send the guards out for him. Having to run away He builds a new home in the woods and lives as a fugitive While looking for a way to turn back or prove he is him.

So witht that im not being anymore descriptive cause ill ruin it for you guys infact i probably already did.
