Off-Topic / Favorite New Video Game?
« on: 2005-10-30, 10:09:49 PM »
I actually did own a ps2 at one time, but I never played it, so i gave it to my brother.

I did try FF7, 8 and X, but got bored of them after an hour or 2.  They just didn't seem as fun as the old 2d ones.  I have played through FF2 and FF3 (us) both about 4 or more times, and they are two of my favorite games of all time.  I also tried the fan translation ROM of FFV, which was also a very good game and ranks right up there.

I know if I gave the 3d ones a 2nd chance, and played them longer, I would probably get into them and play them all the way through.

Man, if someone could make a game this big and long with GameDev

Mwa hahaha, we shall see.

Well, maybe not that long, but I'm doing all my planning to be quite big.  Advanced planning and making ways to make content easier to produce have been what most of my time has been spent on so far with gamedev.

A big thing I have been doing to cut down on content creation time is to make script generate most of the sprites and thier templates rather than adding them all in, (For each map, grrr   )

Well, this has been totally off topic to this post, but i guess I'm in the right forum.

As far was what games I have been playing.  I played world of warcraft, which was great fun for a couple months.  I tried http://www.moonpod.com/English/about_ss.php indie game, its pretty fun.  kind of a cross between master of orion and asteriods.  Maybe ill try out that castlevania one, as I got a DS last christmas but have only been playing gameboy advanced games on it.

I don't own any consoles, but I was thinking of maybe getting a playstation and buying some bargin bin RPG's to see if there are any gems.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Off-Topic / back, working on a new game
« on: 2005-10-27, 06:17:55 PM »
Hey all

Just letting everyone know that I'm back from a long break I took from game making.  (MMORPG's are evil   )

I'm putting my old RPG project on hold for a bit, and concentrating my efforts on an easier project.  I'm a couple weeks into it, and I should have something to share in about 1 month.

My new project is a top down action/adventure game using rpgmaker 95 graphics.  I was going to consider this a "lightly scripted" game, but my script is getting more bloated everyday.  Now it stands as almost the most heavily scripted game i've seen for SGDK, next to Bluemonk's Lode Runner clone.

good to be back. :D

Remember, every minute bluemonk spends playing a new game is another minute before SGDK 2.0 is released  .

Since i promised Bluemonk 4 years ago (yes time really go that fast =)   )  that i would create a game so stunning that even game maker would not have such a game.

sadly i am trying to do that as well, but i have severve motivations problems.  I used to be about 1 week on 1 week off, but no im in a 4 month off slump. (project is about 16 months old)

Were you cbass2 on EZBoard?

yeah, i decided to drop the "2" for this forum.  some sucker already took "cbass" for universal ezboard, so i just went with 2.
