map editor error
« on: 2007-12-16, 05:01:58 AM »
i had open two windows for editing two layers. then i opened the layer properties window of a layer in another map to see some value, and as i clicked on Cancel (it happens also with Update), the error occured.
seems strange to me, because there were only three windows in total and i did nothing unusual.

it just sounds like u can't run 3 map editor windows at the same time. Considering in the old version you could only run 1, only being able to run 2 seems pretty fine.
unless u have done it before, and this doesn't usually happen?

Are you using Release Candidate 1?  If you're using a beta, that might be related to the un-fixed problem in resizing the map editor.  I can't reproduce the problem here.  At one time it seemed that I couldn't have more than about 10 DirectX windows up (DirectX windows include tile previews, sprite previews and map editors), but I just loaded 5 map editors and 8 preview windows all at once without a problem.  I also tried displaying layer properties windows at the same time as having multiple map editors active.  I don't see any problem.  But if you are using a beta version, and you have your windows maximized, it's possible some resizing happened (and an error related to it) when the layer properties window closed.  If that's not it, maybe you could check if there's some repeatable process based on the sample project that could reproduce the problem.  If so, describe how I could try the same thing.

I think I found the problem... if you change the size of a layer while the map editor is up without clicking the update button, this error seems to occur.  For now, don't do that :).  Make sure, if you need to update a layer's size, that you close all editors that are viewing that layer, and that you either click the Update button or Cancel button after doing so (don't just close the window with the X button).
