I downloaded the Direct X 9.0 installer from the Microsoft website, but it keeps telling me it cannot connect and to try again later.  (wtf?!)  Does anyone know where I can get a direct link to the installer?  (I don't mean the 200kb one that links to the Microsoft server, I mean the 23 MB one)

Well, first, make sure you're online, of course, and turn off any firewall you may have temporarily.  That might fix the problem without having to go search for the full download.  I don't think Microsoft makes the full download directly available.

hmm... im sure i used a direct direct x9 download link. (lol two directs) coz i have direct x10 which doesnt like bioshock... D= Ill see if i can find it for you.

Okay, now when I try to run Tetris, I get this error:

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

Process id=0x10c (268), Thread id=0x2cc(716).

What does that mean?  I run win2k...does that have anything to do with it?

Do all parts of SGDK2 run properly on that system?  Can you use the map editor?  Try loading the Tetris project into SGDK2 and open SourceCode/fmodex.dll/fmod.cs/fmodbase.cs/Music.cs.  Then go to the "Embedded Data" menu of the code editor and try "Play with FMOD" and see if you get a similar error.

There are also many computer games that come with the required DirectX (RCT3 includes DX9)

Hm, well, to be honest, I only tried the projects that came with it.  I didn't want to invest time into something that may not work in the first place...

I suppose I should give it another shot.

Oh, I saw the video card list...my laptop is not anywhere NEAR AMD.

I suppose I can always try restoring my old computer...

What video card do you have?  Maybe you should post it on the list as not working.
