Sgdk on Dsi
« on: 2009-06-08, 06:28:17 PM »
Hey I just got a Dsi and, well, I'm posting on it now.

I don't have a computer anymore so my one project I still have on a CD I can't complete/submit.

I use this as internet now.

So is there any way of a version compatible with the Dsi as a playabe application on a SD card?(sgdk2)

bluemonkmn?

durund?

Help me you incredibly smart people!

Yeh it wouldn't be too hard if they used an illegal method that ran only on flashed firmware, but alas, most people haven't flashed their firmware.

here's what you could do... go to a college and get a degree for video game design. then work for a company that makes DSiWare games and design a game that makes games

I don't know if you can say it wouldn't be too hard.  There's still the whole "DS doesn't support C# .NET" issue to get over.

I haven't looked into the DS much, but I have Ubuntu installed on my PSP, it runs any ubuntu-compatible app that doesn't require too much horsepower... Gonna look into wine in the future.

Ubuntu on your PSP?  :surprise: Have you tried running any SGDK2 Linux project on it?

Never did, just assumed it wouldn't work since I couldn't get graphics acceleration working. (and most of the buttons don't work)

Send one over and I'll give it a shot.

You'll need to make sure Mono is installed on your PSP before you have any hope of running any SGDK2 programs.

When I went to the download page for mono and searched for a ubuntu page, I found "Mono is available in all Ubuntu releases, and installed by default."

Oh, that's right.  I was remembering that I had to install Mono Develop when I was working on getting TVSGDK2 running at the very beginning.

I hate to bash nintendo here, but they suck at game development compared to sony. They can do so much more but their games don't use their full potential.
Nintendo is an acorn;
Sony, a baby tree. I shoulda got a PSP.
But some folks at gbatemp.com are trying to make a homebrew channel based off of some kid named Yasu's hack. I would love to find a way to get the things I need to use SGDK2 on the DSi, mates, but nintendo warns me in their DSi book and internet user agreement that if I do such, the DSi will brick.
(Which would be suitable for porting such items, the SD slot or the Game slot?(Acekard))
Do you know, bluemonkmn? I think I asked the same thing about my broken and cheap DS lite...

The DS/DSi is not powerful enough to run Windows or Linux, or any mainstream operating system for that matter.

This chip allows homebrew on a DS/DSi
http://www.r4ultra.com/ (not sure of it's legality)
The programs have to be made specifically for the DS though, there's no way of porting existing programs at this time.
