Funny thing...

Funny thing about these new forums is...You can't post if logged in.  You can't do anything at all if logged in, in fact, beyond view messages.

So I'll post this as a guest:

I just got a Music Orchestration program for my birthday, and this is my first attempt at something musical.  It's in OGG format, so you'll need to download the OGG codec (here) to be able to play it in Windows Media Player (and, hence, SGDK;  Yes, I've tested it, it does work).

By the way BlueMonk, there's a definite idea for something to look into for SGDK 2:  Giving the option of compressing WAV and MP3 files to OGG files and also including the ability to play OGG files within the game.  They're better than WAVs because they compress like MP3 files and they're better than MP3 files because they loop like WAVs (that is, saving them doesn't puta a 10ms blank space on both ends, like MP3 files have).  The only bad thing is that they're not standard, so y ou need the codec.  But it's open source, and if id Software uses it, you know they can't be wrong!

Yes, I intend to have much better support for sound in SGDK2, though I haven't gotten started on that aspect of it yet.  Not sure where to look yet -- if there is something that can be easily integrated into a C# program -- but whatever I can find I'll consider integrating.  OGG is definitely a format I want to support.  I also really want to integrate FastTracker 2 and get some MOD support.  (I think FastTracker has some kind of SDK or something.)

Nice music, BTW!  Do you find that the software improves your ability to write good music?  Is it mostly in the sound sample library or the interface or what?  What formats does it support?

It looks like the reason you couldn't post when logged in was because the "Expert" group didn't have any permissions.  It should be fixed now.

Actually, I have to admit that the entire thing is made from pre-made sound samples and loops.  I just combined a whole bunch of them in a nice order and panned them nicely.  But I think it turned out well.

The ability to use WAV files and MIDI together is really a great improvement over what I've been using in the past.
