I believe I have the same problem as Zorb here.  Everytime I try to enter a layer edit screen, it crashes and states that something is wrong with my DirectX files.  I checked to see which ones I was missing and I recently downloaded them.  I reinstalled the SGDK2.0 Alpha build and it still persists on crashing.  I'm not sure what's wrong here.  (If I'm not being specific enough, then please say so; I don't want to sound like Zorb :-X)

You downloaded and installed Pre-Release 3 and still got the error?
Can you give any more details on what the error said?

You have installed DirectX 9?  Do you know if you installed Managed DirectX when you did?

I have had direct X 9.0 for a while now.  I believe that when you install Half-Life 2, FarCry, or FEAR (all PC games) they automatically install the direct X 9.0, correct?  I mean, the games require it in order to be played, so I know I have that.  When I complained about this problem a while back, Durnurd suggested that I should download the Managed version, and I did.  now, when I go to the WINDOWS folder and look for it, it's all there.

I'll try to go and imitate/copy what the error said.

I think you have to download and install pre-alpha release 3 to get Managed DirectX properly installed before trying to use the latest pre-alpha release.  And if you download pre-alpha release 4, you have to extract it into the same folder where 3 was installed because I don't think Managed DirectX installs as a shared component from that installer.  Keep in mind that the pre-alpha releases are not complete packages -- just something to get a preview of what's on the way.  So they may not work without some effort, and certainly don't represent a complete product.

Did you try installing pre-alpha release 3?

I must say it reflects greatly on the patience and understanding of the mods of this board, that that question even gets answered. That said, why bother? I mean really,... anyone not intelligent enought to format a question in understandable english doesnt justify an answer. But hey , thats just me, ;)
