Intro Video?
« on: 2007-03-15, 01:09:20 PM »
I know that the Loading screen is somewhat 'customizable'. But is there any way i could play a flash video (game intro) before playing the acctual game. You know to set the story , and really get the full effect?

-thanks alot guys.

Look at the project from the project listing called "Game Academy Demo".  It plays an intro movie.  But SGDK can't play flash movies, I don't think.  It plays MPG, AVI or WMV files.

Flash videos can be exported using Flash to an AVI or MPG file, if you happen to have Flash on hand.  If not, there are plenty of free online converters.  Just google it.  Although, in my experience, exporting any flash animations with movie-clip-type objects in them doesn't animate the movie clips.  I don't know if other free converters do or not.

I have flash, so if its a simple issue of converting, well ... then its no problem at all. how would i tell SGDK to play the video?

Take a look at the Gamedev academy project for specifics.

General outline: Import it as a media file, and hook it up to a special function that activates as soon as the game starts.
