i know it's probably obvious, but for just so newbees know, because i made this mistake, every time you save a map it is saved as a new map!!!! So if you have 3 maps, you have 3 .map files in your game folder....

By that do you mean you made the mistake of saving over your old maps with new ones?

It took me a few minutes of sitting here thinking to imagine what the confusion might be.  Perhaps you expected that saving the map as a different name would rename the map and not leave an old copy out there?  But that's the same as any other program.  If you save with a new name, the old file is still there.

In GameDev 1.x, each map is in its own independent file.
